Research Assistants in Liberia, January-March 2012
Impact evaluation of a rural development program in post-war Liberia
Summary
We use randomized field experiments to assess the impact of a development project in post-war Liberia, implemented by ZOA Refugee Care. We measure economic development and social capital formation of a rural livelihoods program in Margibi and Montserrado county. Baseline data have been collected in 2010-2011. In this stage of the project we will revisit the communities to collect follow-up data and to perform the impact evaluation. We are looking for a research assistant (RA) who will help to monitor and evaluate the project. The period in the field will be approximately 3 months, and is expected to start early January.
As a RA you will have the opportunity to gain first-hand field management experience in doing cutting-edge development research. In addition, you will have the opportunity to closely cooperate with an international organisation on the ground, and to gather work experience for jobs in development cooperation and research.
The tasks of the RAs include, but are not limited to: set-up of the impact evaluation including training of local field staff, pilot-testing and conducting behavioral experiments, managing field staff, and supervising data collection activities.
There is a possibility for writing a thesis or doing an internship based on the data/experience in the field.
