Requested documents
A certified copy of your diplomas and transcripts of academic records.
All documents should be certified as true and original by either the educational institution that issued them (in a sealed institution envelope) or by the local Belgian diplomatic office. Photocopies and faxes are not accepted.
Please add a document explaining the grading system of your country (i.e. comparing the grades to numeric score). If you are still preparing for an examination at the time of application, you are requested to forward - as soon as the results are available - a certificate attesting to the results.
Translation of your diploma and official transcripts.
If your documents are not in English, French or Dutch, please arrange for these documents to be translated by a registered translator. These documents must be also certified by the educational institution that issued them or by a Belgian diplomatic office.
All non-native English applicants must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English: for example, a TOEFL certificate sent by ETS, an IELTS certificate sent by The British Council. Only original score cards sent directly by either ETS or The British Council are accepted.
Your TOEFL score. Non native speakers have to take a TOEFL test with a minimum score of either 250 on the computer based test, 100 on the internet based test or 600 on the paper based test. Alternatively, the TOEFL may be replaced by an IELTS (British Council) score of between 7.0 and 7.5 points.
A passport photograph and a copy of your passport.
A proof of payment (bank transfer) of the application fee of € 50, which will be reimbursed upon registration. (only for international applicants)
Statement of Purpose of two pages that substantially describes the applicants motivation and interests.
Detailed CV covering past and present educational background and (work) experience.
Please remember to add a photocopy of the complete set and that only complete files will be taken into consideration.
In addition to this written application, the applicant might be invited for an intake interview with the programme-coordinators. Interviews are organized in July, end of August and beginning of September.
P.R. China
From the academic year 2007-2008 onwards all students from the P.R. China will have to obtain a certificate of academic screening issued by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) of the German Embassy in Beijing before being allowed to enrol at any higher education institution, language course or other preparatory course in Flanders. The APS certificate is also required for obtaining a student visa to Belgium. Students planning to study in Flanders in 2007-2008 are advised to contact the Academic Evaluation Centre in Beijing, mail as soon as possible in order to make the necessary appointments and this before applying for a visa.
