New Call BTC Junior Programme

6-16 January

Created: 2012-01-05 16:15:05

The BTC has announced its 2012 call for candidates for the Belgian government's junior programme. The programme offers young graduates (EEU members) the opportunity to work in projects/programmes in one of the 18 partner countries of the Belgian Technical Cooperation, guided by the BTC project coordinator. The 2012 call is open from Friday 6th of January until Monday 16th of January (12 noon sharp).

The Junior Programme was created in 2006 (by the Belgian minister of Development Cooperation) to offer young people a first professional experience in development cooperation; i.e. a paid job of minimum 1 year-maximum 2 years. The programme is meant for members of EEU, that have had no more than 2 years of (paid) working experience in development. There is usually one selection procedure per year. This is the only time you can apply. Spontaneous solicitations make no sense. This selection procedure consists of three parts: pre-selection, written test and oral test, and takes 2 to 3 months.
Application is organised through the registration form and electronic CV that is made available to you on the BTC website during the submission period. After concluding registrations it is checked whether candidates meet the 8 criteria (a.o. having successfully attended the BTC info series). Although the BTC announced that its selection criteria would be altered after a 'facelift' this has been postponed due to the long government formation in Belgium and admission criteria remain the same for the 2012 call.
All candidates are informed via e-mail whether they are allowed or not to the following round: the written test, a computer test organised by Selor, that will be organised on February 7, 2012. Candidates who pass the written test will be invited via e-mail for the oral test organised by BTC between 7 and 22 March. The oral test consists of a personality test, an individual interview and an "assessment center": a group exercise in which the applicant is put in a certain situation and has to interact with the other candidates. Candidates can choose from a limited set of days to do this test.
If you pass all tests, you join the Junior Programme recruitment pool for 2 years. This is not a guarantee though for actual recruitment as a Junior. During these two years there are all-together between 2 to 4 moments that your profile will be matched with demands from the field. So there are up to 4 chances that you will get a post offered.
If you do not pass, you can apply in response to a next call for applications, on the condition that you still meet the 8 admission criteria at that time (or other criteria in case the programme finally changes and the changes are approved of by the Belgian government).
If you want to be informed automatically, you can join our mailing list by sending a mail to juniorprogramme@btcctb.org . Please include your name and e-mail address and mention “mailing list selection" in the subject of the mail.
